10th workshop

The 10th local activity was implemented by youth workers Chrystalla Polydorou and Eirini Christofi at the Multicultural Center of Pissouri. Present was also Erma Georgiou, the trainer of the first project in Cyprus. Attendees were youth workers from all over Cyprus (considering its size), and this activity focused on the music and music-based communication aspect of the training course.

This workshop was based on the second training course that both Chrystalla Polydorou and Eirini Christofi took part in in Latvia, named "Photography and Music as Therapy in Youth Work." First, to icebreak, each participant made a characteristic sound as well as announced their name in a circle in order for everyone to know each other.

Afterwards, the youth workers, after receiving 2 chopsticks per pair, were tasked to engage in movement based on both silence and closed or open eyes, focusing on building trust and communication between them. Afterwards, after receiving different musical instruments, some handmade but most real instruments, they were tasked with having a dialogue with only the use of the instruments, some angry, some calming, and so on and so forth.

Participants reflected on their experience, both as movers and as witnesses and eventual responders. The activity had a nonverbal communication focus, thus focusing on the connection between others, intertwining art and therapy. A short reflection session took place afterwards.
