Report on the Art Therapy Workshop at DSK Hospital in Białystok
Women's Day Workshop for Mothers of Patients
On March 8, I had the pleasure of leading an art therapy workshop for mothers of children hospitalized at DSK in Białystok. The event was organized in celebration of Women's Day to provide a space where mothers could express their emotions through art and take a moment for themselves amidst their daily challenges.
Workshop Overview:
Theoretical Introduction:
At the beginning of the session, I introduced the participants to the basics of art therapy—what it is, how it works, and how it can help manage stress and emotions. I also explained the role of art as a powerful tool for enhancing mental well-being.
Practical Session:
In the second part of the workshop, the mothers engaged in creative expression by painting on canvases and cards. Each participant could choose the technique and colors that best reflected their emotions. This creative process allowed them to pause, reflect, and momentarily detach from the stress of their daily lives.

Discussion and Reflection:
After the painting session, we gathered for an open discussion where the mothers shared their feelings and reflections on the workshop. Many of them emphasized how valuable the experience was—it provided them with a moment of peace, relaxation, and a new perspective on their emotions.
The workshop was very well received, with participants appreciating the opportunity to engage in creative work and express themselves in a supportive environment. It was a meaningful event that highlighted the importance of emotional well-being, even in difficult life circumstances.
