7th Workshop
27 October 2024 - Hylatio Tourist Village, Pissouri
The seventh local activity was implemented by Youth Worker Chrystalla Polydorou in Hylatio Tourist Village on the 27th of October 2024.
Present at the local activity was also Erma Georgiou, the trainer of the first project in Cyprus. Present were 50 youngsters and 12 adults from numerous types of backgrounds.
Based on the second training course, that Chrystalla took part of in Latvia, named "Photography and Music as Therapy in Youth Work", Chrystalla focused on the photography part of the training course.
Youngsters were tasks with choosing a photo on a table, that most resonated with their feelings, and proceed with sticking on a paper. Participants reflected on the choice of the photo extensively.
Why did they choose this photo? How does it resonate with their feelings? How do they identify with them? What do the colors of the photo mean them?
Participants are then asked build around this picture with more content, drawing and other images from magazines, ultimately a collage based on the theme of their emotions, sense of self and feelings.
After even more reflection, participants, in pairs or trios, were asked to discuss the following 4 questions –
- What did you add around the image?
- How does this enhance or change the meaning of the original photo?
- How did it feel to share your creation?
- Did your partner notice something you hadn't seen in your artwork?
Participants really enjoyed the activity, understood the benefits of phototherapy, representation of the sense of self in pre-selected photos and more.
